Questa lezione ti fornirà informazioni su un interessante filone cinematografico.
India’s film industry is called ‘Bollywood’, in a fusion of the names Hollywood and Bombay, the city now called (chiamata) Mumbai. It is the largest film industry in the world, producing almost 800 films a year (l’anno). Bollywood films are usually musicals and they range (spaziano) from thrillers and murder mysteries (film gialli) to action movies and costume dramas. These productions are characterised by the absence of sex scenes and the strong influence of dance, music and happy endings (lieto fine). Bollywood movies (film) are also called ‘masala movies’ because, like the masala spice mixture (misto di spezie), they combine many different things: songs, dances, love triangles, comedy and thrills (forti emozioni). The dancing in Bollywood films is usually set (ambientato) in beautiful natural surroundings (paesaggi). Dance scenes are often filmed in Switzerland, because the Alpine valleys are reminiscent of (ricordano) Kashmir, an Indian region that has been off-limits (inaccessibile) for a long time due to (a causa della) violence.
