Questa lezione ti aiuterà a comprendere i diversi usi dell’ausiliare WILL.

In inglese l’ausiliare WILL è utilizzato per esprimere diversi concetti

• Do not reply to spam emails: this will confirm that your email address is live.
• I think we’ll close our online bank account. It’s not safe.
• - Oh, no! I have been phished! What shall I do?
  - Don’t worry, I’ll call the bank immediately.
• Will you please stop sending me stupid emails?
• Your bank won’t ask you to provide your password, so beware of phishers!

Usiamo WILL + forma base del verbo quando:

• parliamo di situazioni che prevediamo si verificheranno in futuro;
• prendiamo delle decisioni sul momento;
• chiediamo suggerimenti sul da farsi (in questo caso va usato Shall con I e we) o ci offriamo di fare qualcosa per qualcuno;
• chiediamo a qualcuno di fare qualcosa. Nell’esempio, will viene usato per dare un ordine, ma questa struttura può essere impiegata per fare una semplice richiesta (Will you open the window, please?). La sfumatura di significato è comunicata dalla diversa intonazione con cui si pone la domanda;
• la forma negativa di will è won’t (forma contratta di will not).

Will può essere abbreviato in ‘ll (I’ll call the bank immediately)

Ricorda che per parlare di decisioni già prese o eventi già programmati non va usato WILL ma il present continuous:
Tomorrow we’re going to the bank to close our online account.
