To pull someone’s leg means to tell them something which is not true as a joke.
Mary told me she’s getting married next week but I think she was just pulling my leg.
If you rub shoulders with someone, particularly with famous people, it means that you have the opportunity to meet them and associate with them.
She worked for a record company in London and rubbed shoulders with some of the most famous pop singers.
If you put your foot down, it means that you strongly oppose a decision.

Curriculum - Modi di dire
Bisogna guardarsi dai “falsi amici”, anche nella lingua inglese!
Some words in English may sound like Italian words, but they have actually got a different meaning.
Current is used to describe things that exist in the present .
I am currently employed as a teacher = At the moment I'm working as a teacher
Current affairs are the social and political events happening in the present and discussed on TV and in the newspaper
Actual is used to talk about something real and concrete:
The documentary showed the actual living conditions of the immigrants
Actually is often used in spoken British English, meaning “To tell you the truth…”
“Are you the new secretary?”
“No, I'm not. Actually, I'm the boss!”
