Halloween - Lettura
Leggendo la lezione di oggi scoprirai l’origine di Halloween e delle sue tradizioni.
Halloween's origins date back to (risalgono a) an ancient Celtic festival (festività). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the British Isles and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1st . This day marked (segnava) the end of summer and the beginning of winter. Celts believed (credevano) that on the night of October 31st the ghosts (fantasmi) of the dead returned to earth (terra). People would wear (indossavano) masks when they left their homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake them (li avrebbero scambiati) for fellow spirits. This is how the tradition of dressing in costume for Halloween originated.
The tradition of "trick-or-treating" (dolcetto o scherzetto) probably dates back to the early All Souls' Day (Ognissanti) parades in England: poor citizens would beg for (elemosinavano) food and families would give them pastries (dolci) called "soul cakes" (dolcetti dell’anima) in return for their promise to pray (pregare) for the family's dead relatives (parenti).
This custom (usanza) was encouraged by the Church (Chiesa) to replace the ancient practice of leaving food for roaming (erranti) spirits.

Ho una precisazione da fare… tempo fa nei commenti di un vostro post annunciaste l'inserimento delle trascrizioni Hotel - Vocabolario, Amore - Grammatica, Aeroporto - Modi di dire… precisamente qui.
A quanto pare non sono state ancora pubblicate… volevo sapere se è ancora possibile la loro pubblicazione oppure posso mettermi l'anima in pace e non sperarci più :-)
Voglio precisare che questo post è stato spinto dal fatto che seguendo molto questo blog mi sono accorto, e soprattutto mi sono meravigliato, della serietà con la quale è portato avanti… per non parlare della cura che viene prestata nell'organizzare al meglio i post per categoria… Complimenti ancora! Non importa se non pubblicherete più quelle trascrizioni… Siete grandi comunque!!!

Effettivamente, è stata una nostra mancanza. Ma domani pubblicheremo in una volta tutti gli arretrati. Mi scuso a nome dello staff per il ritardo, ma stiamo preparando tante novità per EnglishBlog.
Approfitto di questo commento per notificare che stiamo preparando delle lezioni di inglese basic veramente interessanti (e direi anche innovative) nonché la nuova competition (la n.03) nella quale metteremo in palio il nuovo ipod shuffle (aspettiamo solo che ci venga consegnato per annunciare le date).

Da quando vedo l'uso dell'imperfetto, in inglese è possibile anche tramite l'utilizzo di "would".
In quali situazioni e consigliato e, mi chiedo, perchè non usare direttamente la forma al passato dei verbi?
