Mancano un po' di domande "essenziali"..
    tipo:
    Do you wanna drink something?
Do you wanna dance with me?
Do you prefer my room or yours?
Do you want I turn off the light?
    Do you have the condom?
    Do you have the cigarette?
    Sorry I have to go
    ..
    :-)

Have u seen "What women want" movie?
Men have to be romantic and pleasant at first appointment.
First step is the choice of a topic for a pleasant conversation such as books, gym or movies.

    ok, you're right.
But if you are in a disco and you meet a nice girls (or a nice guy, this site is for girls as well), phrases as the first two (the ones about drink and dance) are basics!
    cheers!

When I have a "date" (use "date" and not "appointment") with a girl I like to be myself!!!
I like to have a good blowout, drink a lot of beer or wine and talk about cars and sports.

    eheh
Being oneself doesn't meen you have to completely destroy your reputation with the girl ;-)
Trying to be kind and polite is advisable.
Anyway, it also depends on the kind of girl you're going out with :-)

Re: Comment 1:A very good observation: -but, we can only give a few examples at a time:
    - Your use of “wanna” is a very good point, as this is used a lot in American spoken English, and is a contraction of “want to”
    - Do you………………????
Is an example of this “lesson”, on how to use the auxiliary “do” + subject + infinitive, to ask questions for “ things in general”.

Do you prefer my room or yours?
( A little delicate for out teenage users…)
N,B. Do you want ME to turn the light off?
    Do you have a condom?
    – These examples should be “A” not “ the” as it is not a definite article –
    Do you have a cigarette?
    (ditto)

Please continue to ask comments, they are very useful and helpful.

    Hi Mara,
Very good movie "What women want…"
Also, this lesson was written by a woman…., and when you hear the corresponding podcast, the questions shown, are for an example of an Italin male student, asking for a "date" to a Finnish student, after a long day of studying on an intensive English course.
Don't worry, there will be plenty more issues, that appeal to women - and their needs.
    Lucy.

do you want to get in?
what women want is to be treat as they don't expect

  • 9. Lucy - giovedì 09 novembre 2006 19:00:34

    Hi Matt,

    Nice comment,
    - just a little correction on your English,
    but I love the expression:

"What women want, is to be treated with respect….." .

Or "to be treated better than they expect"

It's always nice to exceed somebody's expectations.

    Have fun in practising…………!

    Thanks a lot, Lucy.
I also guess that the approach changes a lot depending on tha age of the two people.
A mature man (if a man can be definite "mature" :-D) might like to have a smoother approach, a young boy might prefer a more dinamic one.
The risk is to go too fast.

  • 13. Lucy - venerdì 10 novembre 2006 12:34:21

    Hi Maui,
I agree with you, your English is very good, but, I'm adding corrections to your spelling, ( the biggest nightmare for the English language…..and pronunciation of course!)
If a man can be DEFINED, as mature…
…and prefer a more DYNAMIC approach.
Hope you are enjoying the podcasts aswell.

    Regards

    Lucy
