Questa lezione ti illustrerà il significato di alcune parole utilizzate negli uffici postali.
First class post: letters that are usually delivered the day after they have been sent.
Second class post: letters that are usually delivered a few days after they have been sent.
Stamp: a small square piece of paper with an image on it which you have to buy and stick on a letter or a parcel to send them by post.
Envelope: a paper container into which you insert letters in order to send them.
Parcel: something that you put into a box or into a large envelope to be sent by post.
Postcode (USA: ZIP code): a code consisting of numbers, letters, or both, which is used as part of an address to locate the area to which post is to be delivered.
Pillar box: a box that you can find in the street and into which you can put the letters that you need to send.
Postal order: a printed document with a sum of money written on it. The person who receives it can exchange it for the same amount of money.
If you send something by Registered mail, you can get money if your letter or parcel is lost, damaged or if it is delivered late.
If you send something by Recorded mail, the person who receives the letter or parcel must sign a form on delivery.
