A stadium is a place where you go to see a football match.
It consists of a pitch, which is the area where footballers play, and terraces, which are steps where spectators stand on to watch the game.
In order to win the game, players have to get the ball into their opponents’ goal. The team which has scored the most goals at the end of the game is the winner.

Players in a football team have different roles: the goalkeeper (who is informally called goalie) is the player whose task is to protect the goal from the opposing team. The goalkeeper is helped by two defenders.
A footballer playing at the centre of the field is called midfield, while attacking players who play near the side of the pitch are called wingers or flankers.
The task of scoring goals is left to the attacker, who is also called striker or forward.
