Anti-spam tips “Spam” is the name given to the practice of sending unwanted messages (messaggi indesiderati) to people’s email addresses, usually as advertising (pubblicità). This gives fraudsters (truffatori) a way of reaching (raggiungere) Internet users based anywhere in the world. Spammers collect (raccolgono) addresses from a number of sources (fonti) including web sites or newsgroups.
Here are a few tips to help you reduce the amount (quantità) of spam that you receive:

Only share (condividi) your e-mail address with people you know.
Disguise (camuffa, altera) your e-mail address on newsgroup posts or chat rooms, for example by inserting zeros instead of (al posto di) "o" (your.name@provider.com). This will prevent (impedirà) the automated programs that spammers use from reading your address;
Do not allow (non permettere) your address to be sold to third parties (venduto a terzi) when registering or buying products;
Do not reply (non rispondere) to spam emails or attempt (tentare) to use the "remove me" link: this will confirm that your
address is live (attivo) and you will receive more spam!
Do not open spam messages;
Use an email programme that includes spam filters.
